As a result, there was a sudden increase in data visualizations in print and online to communicate the new phenomenon. The global impact of COVID-19 caught everyone by surprise and motivated the collection of visualizations. The ease of access to data visualization software, the rising popularity of data journalism, and the ability to share images on social media all contributed to this collecting activity.
